Mary Katherine Schober runs a private piano studio in the Galleria/Tanglewood/Briarwest area. She specializes in serving highly motivated, dedicated, and creatively minded students aged pre-K through 12th grade. Her studio participates in local performance events, including retirement home outreach, semester recitals, and events hosted by Forum Music Teachers’ Association. She currently serves as President of Forum MTA, and received a Steinway & Sons Top Teacher of the Year award in 2023. Her students frequently earn local, regional, and state honors.
In her studio, Schober promotes performing, preparedness, creativity, critical thinking, and expression. She teaches a classical and pedagogically sound method, using both educational method books and personalized repertoire pieces. Improvisation and composition are offered as supplemental activities upon request. She brings traditional classical instruction into the 21st century by cultivating student ownership and self-expression.
